Lanyards are big business in the UK and it’s not surprising when you consider that they are affordable, smart, easy to wear and also a fantastically simple way for people to identify themselves and their roles in all sorts of situations – from employees working on or off-site, to individuals attending a conference, or a school group on a trip out.
Whether your group is made up of professionals, members of a faith group, a Scout club or delegates at a training event, there are so many options to pick from when it comes to lanyards. But one of the most popular ranges right now are multicoloured lanyards, or Pride lanyards, which aren’t just beautiful to look at – they also denote support for Pride and also for diversity and inclusion as a whole. Let’s take a closer look
What is Pride?
Pride is designed to celebrate LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, plus other sexual and gender identities) communities everywhere. In the UK, June is designated Pride month and celebrated with marches, parades and other events. It was chosen to coincide with the Stonewall riots of 1969 in the US, which were pivotal in granting gay rights to people in America and across the world at a time when LGBTQ+ communities were subject to discrimination and harassment.
Pride now celebrates people coming together in friendship and love, to celebrate how far people’s rights have come and to flag up that there is still work to be done. Ultimately it’s all about equality, recognising the work and successes of LGBTQ+ people, promoting education and promoting acceptance.
Why is the symbol of Pride a colourful flag?
The beautiful Pride flag was created by Gilbert Baker, a gay rights activist and artist, and it was first released in 1978 with eight stripes to denote life, healing, sunlight, nature, harmony and spirit. Over time the flag evolved to encompass other marginalised groups and to fully represent the LGBTQ+ communities. Today it is also used by individuals, groups, businesses and non-profits who are keen to show their support for Pride and the communities that the movement represents. This means that rainbows can be found across various pieces of material, artwork, clothing, displays – and even across accessories such as lanyards.
We created our colourful Pride lanyards in response to a demand for specific lanyards that allowed people to show their support for this vital movement.
Why choose a Pride lanyard?
Our multicolour lanyards are perfect for showing your support for any cause or charity, and at Just Lanyards we offer multicoloured lanyards and other accessories to show your support for Pride. By doing so you can:
– Show that you are serious about LGBTQA+ rights and equality.
– Promote that you are committed to inclusivity and diversity – something that is extremely important if you are a business or organisation building up a strong and inclusive employer brand and positive, supportive working culture that aims to welcome in and bring out the best in everyone, regardless of their background, orientation and identity.
– Show your LGBTQA+ members that you support and recognise them, or allow others to recognise your own identity.
– Allow you to share your LGBTQA+ education, awareness and engagement programmes, and perhaps even to stimulate fundraising for LGBTQA+ causes that are important to your cause, group or business.
– Show individuals that your group, business or gathering is a safe and welcoming space for everyone, and that inclusion and diversity is something that matters fundamentally to you.
Customise your multicolour lanyards
As well as creating your own beautiful and joyous Pride or multicolour lanyards, you can customise your finished results with a choice of buckles and attachments. For example, you might be using lanyards for hygiene reasons to maintain a Covid safe space as you welcome your employees and stakeholders back to work. In this instance, you might want to invest in multicolour lanyards with an antibacterial hand sanitiser attachment.
You might be using your lanyards for ID purposes, in which case a rigid ID badge holder could be right for your needs, or a soft plastic shell, depending on the nature of the ID badge. You can also add on other attachments for things such as key fobs that people never forget their lanyards!
Perhaps some of your employees or contractors prefer Ski Pass Printed Badge Reels, which can attach to pockets or belts? We have these on sale too and they can all be customised. These reels are very fast and convenient to use and ideal for swipe access or fast ID granting purposes, especially in situations where individuals need to move around swiftly and without being held up. They also take away the need to wear anything around the neck, which may be preferable to some individuals.
